Dear LMC Patients,

In these challenging times, we would like to assure you that your health and safety, as well as that of our healthcare providers and staff remain our top priority. LMC’s management team is continuously monitoring and responding to Public Health directions related to COVID-19.

Health and Safety

As part of our COVID-19 response plan, we are implementing the following measures at our clinics:

  • Screening – all patients and guests will be screened before entering the clinic. You won’t be able to enter our offices if you’re having any type of cough or fever. You won’t be able to enter if you’ve travelled outside Canada in the past 14 days or had exposure to anyone positive for COVID-19.

  • Reminders – each patient will receive phone or email reminders of our screening measures, before their appointment.

  • Cleaning – we have implemented more frequent and enhanced disinfectant cleaning. Everyone entering the clinic will be asked to use the hand sanitizers provided.

  • Social distancing – we won’t be shaking hands and we’ll be keeping 1 metre of distance, other than necessary physical exams. We’ll be spacing out our waiting room chairs and reducing the number of people in each office, each day.

Patient Care

Our offices remain open and we’ll continue seeing patients each day. However,

  • If you’re in a higher risk group (see below) for COVID-related illness and would prefer your visit conducted by phone, we’ll contact you directly by phone at your scheduled visit time.

  • In general, if you prefer to avoid coming in to the office, don’t cancel your appointment. Instead, please let us know and we will conduct your visit remotely – by phone or by videoconference, for Endocrinologist or Diabetes Educator visits. Most appointments with Pharmacy, Optometry, or Research will still need to be in the office if you’re not in a higher risk group. Cancellation fees will be waived during this period.

  • In cases where we prefer to conduct your visit remotely, we’ll contact you in advance and make arrangements with you.

  • Chiropodists in Ontario will only be providing emergency care for the next 2 weeks so your booked appointments at our offices will be rescheduled.

Higher risk individuals include:

  • People > 80 years of age

  • People with heart disease and/or lung disease

Diabetes itself is a higher risk condition for COVID-related illness. We urge you to minimize your risk by being proactive with your prevention strategies. Please see the attached FAQ from Diabetes Canada. FAQ From Diabetes Canada

We also urge you NOT to change any of your medications without discussing it with your doctor first.

We’re very grateful for your patience and understanding of these precautions. We’ll also continue to provide you with updates of any public health measures that will affect your care at LMC.
