As you know, the holiday season is quickly approaching! With that in mind, our Chiropody & Foot Care team would like to take this time to thank you all for your support throughout this difficult year. We wish you all the best over the holidays, and a very happy new year!

Our LMC Chiropody clinics will be closed from December 24th – January 3rd. That being said, we encourage you to come in for your foot care appointment before the end of the year, to ensure your optimal foot health over the holidays. Keeping your feet healthy, especially during this time, is imperative for your overall health.

We also encourage you to read our Home Care for Healthy Feet – Tips & Tricks to keep your feet healthy at home throughout the holiday season!

Home Care for Healthy Feet – Tips & Tricks

  • Inspect your feet and toes for any cuts, bruises, or sores daily. Use a mirror for hard-to-see areas. Pay attention to any changes in odour, colour or thickness of your toenails, and thoroughly dry your toes after getting the feet wet

  • Moisturize with urea-based creams daily on the tops and bottoms of your feet – concentrating on the heels and drier areas. Do not apply creams in between the toes as the added moisture can breed a fungal infection

  • If you have neuropathy, do not go without shoes, even in the home. This will prevent you from stepping on an object, or hurting your feet without knowing it

  • Inspect shoes for foreign objects, animal hair, pebbles, etc., prior to putting them on

  • Avoid socks with seams that may rub and cause blisters or other skin injuries. Wearing white socks are best to see if you have a bleeding wound

  • Avoid cutting your own toenails if you have neuropathy, or cannot easily reach and see your nails. In such instances, filing the nail is best

  • Never remove corns, calluses, or warts by yourself. Over-the-counter products can burn the skin and cause irreversible damage to the foot

  • Individuals with diabetes should not soak the feet as it can dry out the feet, and increase the risk of infection

Chiropody in-clinic appointments are available at the following LMC locations:

Barrie, Bayview, Brampton, Etobicoke, Oakville, Ottawa & Vaughan
