At the beginning of 2017, LMC Diabetes & Endocrinology\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>published a paper in the journal of Health and Quality of Life Outcomes<\/em><\/strong> about our novel tool – LMC Skills, Confidence & Preparedness Index (SCPI).<\/span> <\/strong>SCPI is a new tool that can be used to assess self-management behaviours in patients living with diabetes\u2014it measures three key aspects including knowledge of a skill, confidence in being able to perform the skill and preparedness to implement the skill.<\/p>\n

The overall results of this initiative has showed the following:<\/p>\n

“The<\/span> Skills,<\/span> Confidence<\/span> &<\/span> Preparedness<\/span> Index<\/span> is<\/span> a<\/span> brief<\/span> \u548c<\/span> easy<\/span> to<\/span> administer<\/span> new<\/span> scale<\/span> that<\/span> is<\/span> more <\/span><\/span>comprehensive<\/span> than<\/span> existing<\/span> tools.<\/span> It<\/span> should<\/span> be<\/span> used<\/span> to<\/span> assess<\/span> self-management<\/span> in<\/span> patients<\/span> with<\/span> diabetes,<\/span> optimize <\/span>the<\/span> resources<\/span> applied<\/span> to<\/span> each<\/span> patient,<\/span> \u548c<\/span> determine<\/span> educational<\/span> needs<\/span> \u548c<\/span> direct<\/span> clinical<\/span> manageme<\/span>nt.<\/span> The<\/span> scale <\/span>should<\/span> be<\/span> further<\/span> evaluated<\/span> in<\/span> a<\/span> broader<\/span> population<\/span> of<\/span> patients<\/span> with<\/span> diabetes.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
