{"id":69388,"date":"2021-08-03T18:52:15","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T18:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lmcca.wpengine.com\/?p=69388"},"modified":"2021-08-06T19:47:52","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T19:47:52","slug":"back-to-school-prep-reminders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lmc.ca\/zh\/uncategorized\/back-to-school-prep-reminders\/","title":{"rendered":"\u8fd4\u6821\u51c6\u5907\u63d0\u9192"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Going back to school next month?\u00a0 Here are some medication reminders to help prepare.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Taking Insulin?\u00a0 Check your glucagon<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>If you take insulin, its best to have glucagon available in the event of severe hypoglycemia.<\/h3>\n<h3>Glucagon injections, as with all medications, have an expiry.\u00a0 Before school starts is a good time to check your supply to be sure it isn\u2019t expired.<\/h3>\n<h3>Glucagon is now also available in a nasal spray version, called Baqsimi.\u00a0 While it is more expensive than glucagon injection kits, the nasal spray version is very easy to use and tends to have a longer expiry date.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Have severe allergies?\u00a0 Check your epinephrine injection<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>If you have life-threatening allergies, you likely have been prescribed an epinephrine injection.\u00a0 Before school starts is a good time to check your supply to be sure it isn\u2019t expired, especially if you must leave one at school or the daycare centre.<\/h3>\n<h3>In Canada, there are 3 auto-injection device versions of this:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>EpiPen \u2013 in 0.15mg and 0.3mg strengths<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Allerject \u2013 in 0.15mg and 0.3mg strengths, with a built-in \u201ctalking box\u201d giving the user directions<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Emerade \u2013 in 0.3mg and 0.5mg strengths<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Your LMC Pharmacist<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>Have questions about glucagon or epinephrine products or usage?\u00a0 Do you, your family or supporting friends need a refresher or training on when and how to use these products?\u00a0 Book a group training appointment with the LMC Certified Diabetes Educator Pharmacist.\u00a0 Our medication assessments, education, and training are available to LMC patients at no charge.\u00a0 And you don\u2019t have to change your home pharmacy!\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lmc.ca\/zh\/\">www.lmc.ca<\/a> | <a href=\"mailto:pharmacy@lmc.ca\">pharmacy@lmc.ca<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Going back to school next month?\u00a0 Here are some medication reminders to help prepare.
