That being said, we encourage you to come in for your foot care appointment before the end of the year, to ensure your optimal foot health over the holidays. Keeping your feet healthy, especially during this time, is imperative for your overall health.<\/h3>\n<h3>We also encourage you to read our <strong>Home Care for Healthy Feet &#8211; Tips &amp; Tricks<\/strong> to keep your feet healthy at home throughout the holiday season!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><u>Home Care for Healthy Feet \u2013 Tips &amp; Tricks<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><u>Inspect your feet<\/u> and toes for any cuts, bruises, or sores <u>daily<\/u>. Use a mirror for hard-to-see areas. Pay attention to any changes in odour, colour or thickness of your toenails, and <u>thoroughly dry your toes after getting the feet wet<\/u><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><u>Moisturize with urea-based creams<\/u> daily on the tops and bottoms of your feet \u2013 concentrating on the heels and drier areas. <u>Do not apply creams in between the toes<\/u> as the added moisture can breed a fungal infection<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><u>If you have neuropathy, do\u00a0not go without shoes<\/u>, even in the home. This will prevent you from stepping on an object, or hurting your feet without knowing it<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><u>Inspect shoes for foreign objects<\/u>, animal hair, pebbles, etc., prior to putting them on<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><u>Avoid socks with seams<\/u> that may rub and cause blisters or other skin injuries. Wearing white socks are best to see if you have a bleeding wound<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><u>Avoid cutting your own toenails<\/u> if you have neuropathy, or cannot easily reach and see your nails. In such instances, <u>filing the nail is best<\/u><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><u>Never remove corns, calluses, or warts by yourself<\/u>.
