Meet the health care practitioners behind LMC Chiropody & Foot Care

Nicole Joseph, D. Pod. M.

Director, Chiropody & Foot Care Registered Chiropodist

As a former high-performance athlete, Nicole understands very well the importance of maintaining a balanced healthy lifestyle.  One may say her experiences as an athlete inspired Nicole to attend York University where she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Science, and also Captained the Women’s Field Hockey Team to the National Championships.  After graduating in 2007, Nicole attended the Michener Institute in Toronto, where she studied Chiropody- the branch of medical science that involves the assessment and management of foot and lower limb disorders- and received her Diploma of Podiatric Medicine in 2010.  Since graduating, Nicole has worked with a variety of patients ranging from patients with diabetes, seniors, children and athletes.  Nicole enjoys working in interprofessioanl teams to give the best care possible to her patients.  She is passionate about her career and looks to make a difference, one foot at a time.

Vanessa Brunato, D. Ch.

Registered Chiropodist

Vanessa always knew that she wanted to pursue a career where she could be actively helping others. She attended George Brown College where she received a diploma in Fitness and Lifestyle Management.   Vanessa also completed a joint degree-diploma from the University of Guelph-Humber in Health Promotion and Kinesiology. It was during her studies at the University of Guelph-Humber that she decided to take a more hands-on approach with medical care. She completed a co-op position with fellow Chiropodist Nicole Joseph, D. Pod. M. where she learned about the field of Chiropody and the importance of foot care.

Vanessa graduated from the Michener Institute for Applied Health Science where she received her diploma in Chiropody.  She is attentive to detail and committed to providing comprehensive care that will assist her patients to achieve not only exceptional foot health, but also greater general health.  Vanessa is a passionate practitioner with a broad range of knowledge about health and medicine that serves as an asset to her patients. ​

Bashar Balakirishan, D. Ch.

Registered Chiropodist

Bashar has been a lifelong advocate of healthy and active living with a palpable love for sports. In high school, he obtained his first pair of custom-made orthotics to alleviate his debilitating arch pain, and Bashar would not have been able to live his active lifestyle over the next 10+ years had it not been for his custom devices. His curiosity of lower limb biomechanics and pathologies grew over the years which ultimately influenced him to pursue a career as a “Foot Specialist.”

Bashar always had a passion and desire to work in health care, and has tailored his education to achieve his goal. His fascination with the human body and sports medicine led him to pursue an Honors Specialization in Kinesiology degree from Western University. Bashar then enrolled in the Chiropody program at the Michener Institute and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Chiropody. As a registered Chiropodist, Bashar possess the knowledge and skills to treat a variety of podiatric conditions, while having a passion for diabetic foot management and wound care.

Although Bashar has completed his formal education, he understands the importance of being a life-long learner in order to better himself as a healthcare practitioner. Bashar enjoys attending conferences, reading scientific publications, and collaborating  interprofessionally  to enhance patient care. He believes in a multidisciplinary approach to health care, and takes every opportunity to establish this in his practice. Bashar’s utmost priority as a practitioner is to improve the quality of life of every patient he sees.

Brendan Dunn, D. Ch.

Registered Chiropodist

Brendan graduated from the University of Guelph in 2013 where he received a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. 

Prior to becoming a Chiropodist, Brendan worked as a Pedorthist in Kingston, ON where he developed an interest in foot care. As a Pedorthist, Brendan developed his skills in manufacturing & modifying orthotics and biomechanical assessments. 

Brendan graduated from the Michener Institute in 2019 with an Advanced Diploma of Chiropody. 

Brendan is passionate about health promotion and keeping his patients active. Brendan understands the importance of making his patients feel at home and comfortable during their visits to the clinic. 

Chris Foster, D. Ch.

Registered Chiropodist

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Chris was always interested in pursuing a career in health care. His passion for sports led him to Brock University where he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree – a subject area, which focuses on human performance. After graduating in 2012, Chris began studying Chiropody at The Michener Institute in Toronto, Ontario. Chris earned his Diploma of Chiropody in 2016, finishing at the top of his graduating class. Now, Chris focuses on improving the lives of his patients by assessing and treating diseases, disorders, and dysfunctions of the foot and lower limb. He possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to help people of all ages, and keeping patients mobile is his number one priority.

Antonietta Galati, D. Pod. M

Registered Chiropodist

Antonietta graduated from the Michener Institute in 2010 where she received her Advanced Graduate in Podiatric Medicine. Her background includes a degree from York University and diploma in Massage Therapy. She is currently working towards her Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education Management.

Her passion for being at the forefront of care with Chiropody and foot health lead her to become the Clinical Coordinator/Manager at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN, where she concurrently works as management and clinical faculty. This allows her to be on the frontline of education in the field of Chiropody, while providing her patients with up to date progressive care.

Being a Specialized Health Care Professional, Antonietta has the experience of caring for all types of patient concerns and foot related issues, but definitely has a passion for Diabetes related foot care/Wound Management, Biomechanics and Sports Therapy.

Antonietta is very excited to be part of the LMC Team and is looking forward to being your Foot Care Specialist.

Kevin Joy, D. Ch.

Registered Chiropodist

Kevin graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Kinesiology and Health Science. During his undergraduate studies, Kevin was involved in research and lent his extra time to volunteering in hospital and multidisciplinary settings. While volunteering, Kevin learned of the Chiropody profession and realized it was an excellent way to really provide help to those in need. Kevin completed his Chiropody training at the Michener Institute in 2019 and has completed rotations in both community and private health settings. Kevin looks forward to using his education and training to helping patients lead happier and healthier lives through educating, treating, and managing various foot conditions and ailments.

Stephan Kolotylo, D. Ch.

Registered Chiropodist

Stephan Kolotylo completed his undergraduate studies at York University with an Honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Science. His passion for biomechanics and health care inspired him to pursue further education at the Michener Institute for Podiatric Medicine (Chiropody). Stephan completed the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences Chiropody program in 2013 and graduated with distinction.  Shortly after graduating Stephan gained experience working in numerous and diverse clinical settings, such as private clinics, nursing homes, hospitals, government funded community health centers and with professional sports teams, such as the Toronto FC soccer team.  Stephan is very passionate about helping people and having a positive impact on his patients motivates him in his career every single day.  ​

Bryanna Tschumi

Chiropody Assistant

Growing up, Bryanna always knew that she wanted to pursue a career where she could not only help people, but make a difference in their lives. Bryanna graduated from the Kinesiology program from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in 2015. With years of previous experiences in a rehabilitation therapist role, Bryanna assisted to provide gait training and physical rehabilitation to the pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations where she further established her passion for helping patients get back on their feet, and making a change in their lives. Moving to Barrie, and making it her permeant residence, Bryanna wanted to dive deeper into the specific healthcare field of Chiropody. Bryanna is looking forward to contributing in assisting with proactive and compassionate foot care among patients at LMC. Bryanna is working as a Regional Chiropody Assistant with her home site based at the LMC Barrie clinic.
